Today, John’s Gospel returns to the final discourse by Jesus with His disciples at the Last Supper. Jesus tells them He has lots more to say to them but they “cannot bear it now.”

Pentecost and the Easter Season are over, and we are now back in the season of Ordinary Time. Our special Jubilee Year of the Holy Spirit, that we have been celebrating in our Diocese for our Golden Anniversary, has concluded. I hope that you have felt the Holy Spirit alive in your faith and in the Church throughout this past Jubilee Year.

And so the Easter Season ends on this Pentecost Sunday. Instead of an ending though, let’s see it as a beginning. It is the beginning of our One, Holy, Catholic and Apostolic Church.

We are all meant to go out and proclaim the message of the Gospel to all the nations. May the Spirit continue to inspire us to do so! Please note that there is a special celebration this Sunday, June 5, at the Cathedral from 2:00-5:00 pm to close the Jubilee Year. All are welcome to attend.
