Have you seen the light? As the Church celebrates this Solemnity of the Epiphany, the world has seen the light! The Three Kings had been watching for the Star, the Star of Bethlehem. This was the light that the world was waiting for and many centuries had passed. Some gave up hope that they would see the light. But in the very quiet, and the still of the night, Christ was born and the light came into the world. The Kings saw this Star and knew that they needed to make a journey.
These Three Kings risked much to follow the Star. They did not know where their journey would lead them. Yet their journey allowed them to pay homage to the newborn King. This would change their lives forever and would reveal to the world that their King, the one whom they were waiting for, was now living among them.
In these days of the Christmas Season, how has the light come into your life and the life of your family and friends? Has it changed you? Has it made you want to seek Christ more closely? As we find ourselves just a few days into this New Year of 2026, we can see and think about how Christ can change our lives in this upcoming year. The light will lift us out of the darkness and the troubles of life!
Our special Jubilee Year celebration of 2025 will draw to a close this week on the traditional celebration of the Epiphany, this Tuesday, January the 6th. Pope Leo will close the Holy Door at St. Peter’s Basilica, and this door will be bricked up and covered until the next Jubilee Year. I hope that you have found this Jubilee Year of 2025 to be a rewarding and spiritual experience.
As many of us get back to our normal routines this week, let us rejoice as we see what the Light of the World, Jesus Christ, has done for us!
