Dear Parishioners, By the time you read this, I hope that many of you have been able to receive the special edition of our Diocesan Southwest Michigan Catholic Magazine. It contains many wonderful articles, pictures about the ordination of our new Bishop, his coat of arms, (unique to each Bishop) and many other facts and interesting information. If for some reason you didn’t receive a copy, please go to the website for the Diocese, click on the tab to ‘learn more about our new Bishop’, and view the magazine online. It’s been fun to hear about the number of people that didn’t know about the “New Bishop” school in Rome that Bishop Lohse attended a few weeks ago. This is a great source of information that one can learn a lot about the Office of Bishop and what goes into the process of welcoming a new Bishop. Occasionally, I get questions about how some of the priests that have been stationed here at St. Catherine (in past years) are doing. You may have heard that Fr. Jeff is now a pastor! He will formally be installed by Bishop Lohse in mid-October as pastor of St. Rose in Hastings and his mission church of St. Cyril in Nashville (yes, there really is a Nashville, MI). Fr. Bill and I talk or email back and forth on a regular basis. He got to see an exhibition game for the Packers a few weeks ago, and is pleased to be living in the same facility as his sister. He misses everyone here and wanted me to send his greetings! Hopefully some of you were able to see the information tables at the picnic or in the Narthex regarding some of our parish works and ministries and volunteer opportunities such as Faith Formation, El Sitio, and the works that our other groups such as Respect Life do. Please keep them in your prayers as we are in the beginning weeks of our fall programs!
