I know there will be sadness when many read the news that this is our final donut weekend for the season! Yes, we are quickly approaching the last part of the school year, and next week we will have the conclusion of our Faith Formation classes. We truly appreciate all our volunteers who make up our donut crews and all our volunteers that teach our children. Here are some fun facts about a donut Sunday. The donut baker shows up at 4:30 AM to start the process and other volunteers show up a little later to work on other aspects of making donuts. Then everyone shows up after Mass to eat the donuts! This has been a long tradition in our parish to make our own donuts. We appreciate all of our donut bakers, those who assist with the frosting of donuts and the clean up afterward and all of the volunteers from the parish and our Knights of Columbus Council that make all this possible. We are a parish who loves donuts!
It’s also that time of year when we will start receiving our materials in the mail for the Bishop’s Annual Appeal. Please keep an eye out for these mailings to arrive at your houses soon! I’ll be talking more about the appeal and what it supports at all our Masses in the next few weeks. Our parish goal this year is $245,829.
Our feast day of St. Catherine of Siena is coming up in just a few weeks. The Church celebrates this feast on April 29th. Our St. Catherine confirmation class is going to be at the Cathedral for their confirmation on this feast day. Please keep our students and several of our adults in your prayers as they receive this Sacrament. We will also celebrate 60 years as a parish this year. It’s time for all of us to celebrate and we will be having a parish event in the Fall in conjunction with the annual parish picnic. More details will come out on this at a later time.
Looking ahead to the month of May, we will be having our 1st Communions on the 3rd of May and the 17th of May. Besides our confirmation students, please keep our 1st communicants in your prayers as well.
