Join our Primetimers group for lunch! Primetimers are meeting Monday, March 7, at 11:15 am at Jac Cekola’s Pizza (7640 S Westnedge Ave, Portage) for their monthly lunch.
Lent is a favourable time for personal and community renewal, as it leads us to the paschal mystery of the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. For our Lenten journey in 2022, we will do well to reflect on Saint Paul’s exhortation to the Galatians: “Let us not grow tired of doing good, for in due time we shall reap our harvest, if we do not give up. So then, while we have the opportunity (kairós), let us do good to all” (Gal 6:9-10).
We ❤️ our volunteers!! Thank you, Ken & Sharon Stevens, for all you do for our parish. Please join us in thanking them for their dedication to our parish!
Did you know palms become sacramentals after they are blessed each Palm Sunday? Sacramentals are objects made holy or set apart for a special purpose, after a cleric’s blessing.
Today’s Gospel reading picks up where we left off last week, with Jesus’ Sermon on the Plain as related by Luke. Jesus begins with the familiar parable about removing the beam from one’s own eye before volunteering to remove the splinter from another’s eye…in other words, approaching the world and all its problems with a large degree of humility.
This Wednesday we will begin our season of Lent, the holiest time of the Church year. We will be having three Masses on Ash Wednesday and the imposition of ashes. A copy of the Lenten regulations can be found in the bulletin this week to remind all of us about the days of fast and abstinence. On Friday evenings during Lent, we will have a Lenten talk prior to the start of Stations at 7:00 pm.
Please join our Respect Life Ministry team in peaceful prayer and fasting to end abortion. The next 40 Days for Life campaign takes place during Lent from March 2 to April 10.
Are you serving in a ministry at St. Catherine’s? With hectic work schedules and family life, we all need time to relax and exercise — but we also need to rejuvenate ourselves through service. No matter how big or small your contribution, our parish just isn’t the same without you!
Did you know we have weekly Adoration here at St. Catherine's? Every Thursday from 10:00 am - 12:00 pm, join us in Trinity Chapel for Adoration and Benediction. We hope to see you there!
We ❤️ our volunteers!! Thank you, Pat Seidl & Lee Durland, for all you do for our parish. Please join us in thanking them for their dedication to our parish!
Jesus is telling us how to make a little bit of Heaven here on Earth; how to bring His kingdom into play right now. Just imagine a world in which people didn’t judge others, in which people freely share what they have with those less fortunate, in which people forgive others for their sins and truly see all others as loved by God and worthy of respect.
